The recent launch of Agent Vi Academy – a library of pre-recorded webcasts which can be accessed at any time and from any place – was well-received, with hundreds registering in the days following the launch. Academy webcasts currently available include an introduction to video content analysis, Agent Vi’s products and architecture; Vi-System real-time detection and alerts, including product capabilities and operation; Vi-System enterprise grade with information on features for large-scale deployments; and Vi-Search for forensic analysis including product features and online vs. offline (imported clips) search.

“Agent Vi Solution Integrator” Course Awarded BICSI Accreditation
 BICSI – a professional association supporting the information technology systems industry covering voice, data, electronic safety & security, and audio & video technologies – now recognizes the “Agent Vi Solution Integrator” course for BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CECs), allowing course participants to accumulate points towards BICSI accreditation.
Since the launch of Agent Vi’s certification courses in late 2010, hundreds of participants from around the globe have successfully completed Agent Vi’s courses, gaining practical knowledge on the installation, operation, support and maintenance of Agent Vi’s video analytics products.
With this BICSI accreditation, Agent Vi distributors and systems integrators, as well as consultants and A&Es, will receive CECs on completion of the “Agent Vi Solution Integrator” course, in line with BICSI’s guidelines.

Ask Agent Vi: What is the VAP Redundancy Feature Available in Vi-System 4.1?
For many end-users deploying mission-critical systems, an important requirement is the elimination of any single point of failure in the system. Previous versions of Vi-System – Agent Vi’s real-time detection and alert software – included a server redundancy feature which effectively eliminates any single point of failure in the Vi-Server.
In the recently released Vi-System version 4.1, redundancy features are enhanced with the addition of the VAP redundancy feature. When planning a fully redundant deployment using VAPs, it is now possible to deploy one or more additional VAPs which will serve as hot backups in case of a failure of any of the active VAPs.
For example, in a deployment that analyzes 100 cameras using 5 VAP servers, the systems integrator can deploy a sixth VAP which will be configured in the redundant role. This VAP will normally remain inactive and whenever the Vi-Server detects that an active VAP has failed it will automatically assign all of the cameras handled by that VAP to the redundant VAP. The entire process is quick and seamless, with full analytics functionality restored to the cameras associated with the failed VAP in less than 10 seconds.
The combination of LBS redundancy and VAP redundancy completely eliminates any single point of failure and provides the most fault-tolerant analytics product on the market.

Channel Partners Worldwide Present Agent Vi’s Solutions
In November, channel partner Infinite Solutions from the Virgin Islands presented Agent Vi to its customers in the framework of their Technology Expo. Vi-System and Vi-Search were demonstrated, integrated with the Milestone VMS.
Additionally, Agent Vi was presented at a number of trade shows worldwide: Distributor John Lay from Switzerland exhibited at the Sicherheit Trade Fair in Zurich in November, presenting Agent Vi’s video analytics solutions; Italian systems integrator Italtel demonstrated Agent Vi at a recent exposition for the military industry; and South Korean distributor, Sindoh Computer Systems, exhibited Agent Vi’s products at Secon International 2011 in Seoul.
Integration Update: New Milestone XProtect Integration
A new integration package with the Milestone XProtect family of video management solutions is now available. The updated integration is based on Milestone’s MIP SDK and provides enhanced features including: minimal set up and configuration, even for very large deployments; alerts for real-time detections in the Smart Client window; display of graphic overlay for detected targets on live and recorded video; and more.
